You can simply up the protein and healthy fats in your diet and keep the carbs at a minimum. You should look up the glycemic index for carbs and stay with the ones that are the lowest on the list for normal range blood sugar levels. These include green vegetables, some fruits, whole grains, and very limited types of natural sugars. Not only can diabetes be avoided, a person will lose weight, feel better, be more energetic, and will even find that they have a clearer mind as time goes on.
